Every year during the first part of December my dad takes me ice fishing. We always bring my two dogs, Jack and Jill. The Miller Hill Pond is about 200 yards across.
The first thing that my dad and I do when we get there is to drill a hole in the ice. This helps us to determine if there is enough ice to walk on. Jack and Jill just run around chasing anything they can find. We usually fish in an area where the branch of a large old tree hangs down into the water. This spot is located on the far end of the pond from where we park.
It is so cool being down there because there is an old beaver dam where a beaver used to live. There is a small island in the middle of the pond. There are ducks and geese in the pond during the summer and they nest on the island. If the ice is thick, enough we will venture out to the island for a little exploring.
