I was born and raised in San Diego and knew Florence Chadwick, her mother and her brother, Richard Chadwick, well. I remember watching her swim the English Channel, on B&W T.V.
Her brother, Richard Chadwick, was a San Diego Police Officer, who formed the "Junior Traffic Patrol" (crossing-guards) for San Diego elementary schools. He was highly respected in the community, and gave lectures to elementary school children on gun safety.
Her mother opened a large family restaurant in San Diego, known as "Chadwick's Dinning Room", at 25th & Market Streets. It was open for at least 20-years before being closed, and was my family's favorite place to eat.
